Tennis Canada launched their 2014-2015 season in Montreal this Tuesday, and one of the figures of the National Tennis Centre, this year, is young local Françoise Abanda.

The 17-year-old Montrealer had an amazing summer, in which she took a set off Australian Open runner-up Dominika Cibulkova in Montreal, qualified for her first Grand Slam at the U.S. Open, then squared off with Venus Williams in the first round of Quebec City, all this to reach a career high of n°178 in this week’s rankings.

BATennis World had the chance to talk to Abanda about her great summer, and what is coming for her in the next few months:

In a time when national tennis is in full blossom, Françoise Abanda is, most definitely, one of the prominent rising stars of the new generation of Canadian players.
