The 2017 edition of the Coupe Rogers might be played without Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, and Novak Djokovic, among many others, but the draw remains one that promises to be extremely interesting.
Seeded 1 and 2 for the first time since 2011, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will have a lot of work ahead of them if they wish to offer the fans a new meeting of their epic rivalry.
The Spaniard will take the top spot of the rankings if he reaches the semifinals or better. However, his road is paved with traps, starting by his opener, in which he could play Borna Coric. Also potentially looming: Juan Martín del Potro or John Isner, David Goffin, and Milos Raonic.
Federer, for his part, will start on Wednesday afternoon against a Canadian, either Vasek Pospisil or Peter Polansky. He then could face Jack Sock, David Ferrer or Kyle Edmund, before potential meetings with Roberto Bautista Agut and Kei Nishikori.
The third and fourth seeds, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev, also have a tricky road towards the final four of the event.
- Rafael Nadal vs Milos Raonic
- Roger Federer vs Kei Nishikori
- Dominic Thiem vs Grigor Dimitrov
- Alexander Zverev vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Appealing first rounders of the Coupe Rogers
Among the first round meetings that are known, several attracted our attention:

- Viktor Troicki vs Nick Kyrgios

A known foe for Tsonga
Present at the draw ceremony, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga knows the player he will face in the second round (Sam Querrey or Gilles Muller) all too well. “From the first match, I’ll face either of the last two guys who have beaten me”, he said with a laugh.
