Novak Djokovic advanced to the Rogers Cup final with a commanding 6-4, 6-4 win against first-time Masters 1000 semifinalist Jérémy Chardy.
For the world number one, it is a 30th consecutive Masters 1000 triumph, he whose last defeat in this category of tournaments came in the 2014 Shanghai semis against Roger Federer.
This win was a big change with the one from Friday, where he had to save two match points to defeat Ernests Gulbis, and had admitted to not having playing well. “[The keys today were] my consistency and my focus”, said the Serbian in his on court interview. “Jérémy played a very good week and I hope he continues that way.”
Djokovic, who still had to play the doubles semifinals alongside Janko Tipsarevic at the time of writing, awaits the winner of the clash between Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori.
