Almost two years after winning in Vienna, David Ferrer is a champion again.
On Sunday, the Spaniard won the title in Båstad for the third time in his career after a 6-4, 6-4 win over Alexandr Dolgopolov.
The last two years have been difficult for the ever-working Ferrer, who has had to deal with several injury issues and has, consequently, seen his ranking drop significantly. In May, the former number three left the top 10 for the first time since October 2010 and appears at the 46th spot of the ATP rankings. However, with his Swedish Open title, he will be back in the top 35 of the tour on Monday, close to a seeding spot at the U.S. Open.
We can only rejoice in seeing him finally back. After all, David Ferrer is an example of professionalism and hard work.
