Andy Murray announced that he and his brother Jamie will team up at the Citi Open, in Washington.
In a bit of a surprising news, Andy Murray announced, this Wednesday, that he and his brother, Jamie, will team up for the ATP500 event of Washington, held on 29 July – 4 August.
Andy Murray’s announcement
The news come as a bit of a surprise considering that the youngest of the Murray brothers had several issues with the tournament director, last year, following his pull-out from the event after some gruelling matches taxed him physically.
However, only fools don’t change their minds, they say. In this case, a change at the head of the tournament could be the reason behind Sir Andy’s change of heart.
All the better for the fans.
More to come in the next weeks?
With Washington being a week from the Coupe Rogers, in Montreal, does this mean that we have a chance to see the Scot playing doubles at the Canadian Masters 1000? We can only hope, as Murray is a popular player among the fans.
The next few weeks are among the busiest of the tennis calendar, with Washington, Canada, Cincinnati, and the U.S. Open. Seeing Sir Andy at those events, even if in doubles, would without a doubt be an added bonus for any of those events.
