“Juan Martín del Potro underwent today a surgery on his left wits in the Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minnesota, led by the Dr Richard Berger. During the surgery, it was found that the damage to the wrist’s ligaments were worse than what the tests done prior to it have shown. Regardless of that, the surgery went well and as predicted. The damaged ligaments have been repaired and reinforced.

“The surgery did not require hospitalisation and Juan Martín is recovering comfortably. We expect him to recover fully, as was originally planned. However, Dr Berger observed that ‘considering the degree of damage found in Juan Martín’s wrist, it’s amazing that he was able to play tennis at all. It is thanks to his passion of the game, his desire to play well and his strength that he was able to go on for so long. I am eager to see him play once more with all his might.'”

We wish del Potro a speedy and complete recovery and look forward to see him back, healthy, on a tennis court.
